Falling In Love With Boredom 🥱
Hi friends!
Are you the type of person who gets bored easily? I know I am. Especially when the work I'm doing isn't 'interesting' or worth my time.
But did you know - the ability to work when work isn't easy is what truly separates successful people from the masses?
If you look at the people who are consistently achieving their goals, you start to realize that it’s not the events or the results that make them different. It’s their commitment to the process. They fall in love with the daily practice, not the individual event - Atomic Habits, James Clear
It's definitely easier said than done. At any point of time when you're doing work - anything else other than the work itself somehow seems to be the most interesting thing in the world! Your Instagram or TikTok Feed, that news article on productivity etc...
So when the work gets tedious and challenging, and when it feels like you aren't getting the 'small wins' or results you are after - are you still willing to grind it out no matter what? Are you able to have the grit to persevere through even though nothing seems to be moving?
I face this challenge almost everyday as a content creator. There are days when my content does well and attracts loads of followers! Other days, the numbers move incredibly slowly, and I start to question myself if I'm doing the right thing - and when I continue to do the same thing over and over - is it really worth it?!
The great thing is, after lots of experimenting over the years - I know the answer to that is a resounding yes. I just have to learn to be patient, to enjoy the 'boring' process and the results will come!
Fall in love with boredom. Fall in love with repetition and practice. Fall in love with the process of what you do and let the results take care of themselves.
Till next week!
