First Post - Hello World! :)
Finally starting this blog - and my first post is going up! Sounds easy? It was not. I honestly can’t believe how difficult it was to get this up and running! I started off with buying a domain name with bluehost, and wanted to start off writing with Wordpress - but it ended up being extremely difficult to navigate. I consider myself pretty tech-savvy (even in terms of being able to navigate and edit the look and feel of sites thanks to my pre-blogging experience in my younger years), but I swear, it took me 2 hours to try change something on the website, and I wasn’t even successful in the end. So I switched to Squarespace yesterday and it has been a breeze!
I’m excited because this marks a new phase in my life journey on what I truly want to do in my life! 2019 was truly a tough year for me both personally and professionally. I don’t regret going through it but I’m so glad that this year is finally coming to an end.
I read Simon Sinek’s book on Find Your Why 6 months ago in Phuket on my first solo trip (which I ticked off my bucket list but now also know that I truly despise travelling alone) - and this inspired me to try to discover what I truly want to do. After many months of exploration, contemplation and self-reflection, I’m finally convinced that my passions include the following: Fitness, Nutrition, Self-Development (Growth), Productivity and Entrepreneurial Stuff. This blog is going to be my way of sharing all the things I have learnt along the way which I feel would help benefit others!
Over these past few months, I’ve been super inspired by a few individuals. I’ve read their books, blogs, watched their youtube videos and listened to their podcasts. As a start, I’d love to share who they are (and their work) in this posts so that everyone can start benefitting from their learnings and nuggets of wisdom!
Ali Abdaal - This fella is AWESOME. This guy is a full time doctor - who recently graduated from Cambridge. He’s only in his mid-20s and he has built a business on teaching people how to study for medical exams in the UK (but I believe its international now). He is also a part-time Youtuber and is my FAVOURITE Youtuber. Check out his youtube channel here. I get SO much inspiration from him, and have learnt loads from him. He is who I aspire to be in 2 years! He also writes articles on his blog, and has a podcast with his brother. I highly recommend you check his stuff out if you are interested in tech, productivity and self development.
Tim Ferriss - Another guy who has written a couple of books, and has a podcast with interviews with extremely successful people. One of his books: The 4-Hour Workweek has changed the way I’ve thought about work. It’s made me think more about exploring my passions and about how to generate passive income and make your money work for you so that you don’t have to only rely on your job to bring some moolah in, or to always have look forward to your next holiday or promotion.
Shaan Puri - I really enjoy listening to his podcast called My First Million. Shaan interviews successful entrepreneurs who are now millionaires and we learn about their ‘behind the scenes’ stories - their struggles and how they made their first million. Really interesting to know how people really work super hard to get to where they are - so much blood, sweat and tears involved. They have a few episodes where Shaan and the owner of the Hustle also brainstorm on ideas and trends that they hear about! It’s really eye-opening to hear their thoughts on these topics since they are such experienced entrepreneurs, and how they approach dissecting an idea.
John Berardi - I got to know of John Berardi when I picked up his book ‘Change Maker’. This book is geared towards a person who is interested to turn their passion for health and fitness into a career - so naturally I picked this up ;) It turns out, this guy was responsible for developing the Precision Nutrition Course that I was concurrently studying (and have since then completed)! Such a coincidence. The book however, was only an OK read for me as it focused a lot more on the concept of ‘finding your why’ and ‘coaching’ and ‘people skills’ which was different fron my expectations of wanting a guide To direct the reader on what certifications to take to become a personal trainer. Still, a really inspiring dude in the fitness field!
Enjoy! The amount of value-adding information I have absorbed and learnt from these individuals is priceless. Infact, I spend most of my time listening to podcasts when i hit the gym or when I am driving alone and actually find this quite enjoyable.
If you have sometime, check them out - you won’t regret it!
